Palm Sunday is a significant day in the Christian calendar that marks the beginning of Holy Week, which commemorates the final week of Jesus Christ’s life on earth before his crucifixion and resurrection. It is celebrated on the Sunday before Easter and is named after the palm branches that were laid down before Jesus as he entered Jerusalem. The people welcomed Jesus as their king, which fulfilled the prophecy of Zechariah 9:9, “Rejoice greatly, O Daughter of Zion! Shout, Daughter of Jerusalem! See, your king comes to you, righteous and having salvation, gentle and riding on a donkey, on a colt, the foal of a donkey.”

During the Palm Sunday service at Believe Church LA, Pastor Aaron Lindsey reminded the congregation of the significance of the day and the events that took place during Jesus’ triumphal entry into Jerusalem. He emphasized that Jesus did not come to fulfill the people’s expectations of a political king who would overthrow the Roman rule, but instead, he came to save their souls.

The subject of the day was “Get ready for the ride,” and Pastor Aaron encouraged the congregation to prepare themselves for the journey ahead, just as Jesus prepared for his journey to the cross. He reminded them that life is a journey, and there will be bumps and detours along the way, but with faith in God, they can overcome any obstacle.

He also spoke about the relationship between John and Jesus and how John was faithful to God’s plan even when it meant that he had to decrease, while Jesus increased. He encouraged the congregation to be faithful to God’s plan for their lives, even if it means letting go of their own plans and desires.

As part of the Palm Sunday service, the congregation drank the blood and ate the body of Jesus, which is a symbolic act of communion that reminds believers of the sacrifice that Jesus made on the cross. This act also signifies the unity of the body of Christ and the importance of fellowship.

Overall, the Palm Sunday service at Believe Church LA was a time of reflection, worship, and preparation for the journey ahead. It reminded the congregation of the significance of the day and the events that took place during Jesus’ triumphal entry into Jerusalem, and encouraged them to stay faithful to God’s plan for their lives.
