| DIZZYDIDDY+PLUS FACE OF THE WEEK

FACE OF THE WEEK: Annine Unger

Can you tell us about yourself and what you do?
I am a full-time aesthetician and a part-time luxury brand influencer. I own a podcast on Spotify called Annine Unger Knows Best. I also run a website, www.skincare2000pro.com, where I sell medical-grade skincare at bulk pricing. Additionally, I work as a weight loss specialist at Amina’s Aesthetics, the same place where I perform my facials. I’m a full-time Playboy cover model, and I do a lot of photoshoots that are published in amazing magazines.

What inspired you to pursue your career in business?

My mother inspired me to pursue my career and business, as well as my competition.

What is the biggest challenge in your career you have faced and what did you do to overcome it?
The biggest challenge I faced was being stuck in another person’s career and building theirs, and not pursuing mine. Owning my own business and becoming an independent contractor was the smartest decision I ever made.

How do you define success?
Success, to me, is staying on top of your everyday responsibilities while also balancing a happy lifestyle that isn’t too focused on work. My idea of success is working smart, not working too much.

How do you maintain a healthy work-life balance?
I maintain a healthy work-life balance by setting a goal for each month and not trying to overexceed it or fall short of it. I think it’s important to have success but to remember it all comes in due time. I also have a puppy named Sky, a Pomsky, and I love him to death. I spend a lot of time with him on walks and at the beach, which reminds me that the best things in life are free.

What is something that people often misunderstand about your business?
Something that some people misunderstand about my business is that Playboy magazine is not part of the adult industry, in my opinion. I believe that Playboy is an expression of female sensuality, and it ends there. I think it’s OK to celebrate the beauty of a woman as long as she’s in control of her boundaries and expresses herself in a way that she feels comfortable.

What is your philosophy in life?

The best things in life are free. Try to live with minimalism because then everything after that would be a luxury. Be careful with expectations because you don’t want to get let down. The world is an abundant place, and you deserve access to the finer things just like anyone else. Blessings start from within. And the best one of all is nothing is constant but change.

What is the one life lesson you learned a little too late?
One life lesson I learned a little too late is that if you don’t practice something forever, then you do not stay a professional at it. A lot of the time we think that when we master something, we’ve mastered it for the rest of our lives, but actually, it’s every day that you have to put in work to stay a professional. As a professional dancer, I wish I had known that I needed to continue working at it to see the benefits later.

How do you give back to your community or make a positive impact in the world?
I give back to the community by helping others handle their mental health burdens as well as addiction issues. I’ve been around a lot of kids who used addiction to hide the pain they’re feeling, whether from their homes or at school. I also help neighbors with their animals and children. I could never walk by a homeless person without reaching into my purse to help. My heart is worn on my sleeve, and I like it that way.

What is the most rewarding aspect of your work/business?
The most rewarding aspect of my work is knowing that I can help people find happiness in their own skin. Through my skincare line, I feel like I’m contributing to making people feel better about themselves and empowered to take care of their health.

What is something you’re passionate about outside of your work/business?
I’m passionate about helping others with their mental health and addiction struggles. I’m also passionate about animal welfare and community well-being. I love my work, but giving back to others is just as fulfilling.

What is the best advice you have ever received?

The best advice I ever received was to not take myself too seriously. I also remind myself daily: “It’s not that big of a deal.” Life is about enjoying the ride, staying grounded, and always embracing new challenges.
