Lil Wayne Earns His First Diamond Plaque for Lollipop
Lil Wayne’s song Lollipop is now certified diamond!

Lil Wayne’s GOAT status just went up ten points after receiving his first official diamond plaque for “Lollipop”. 15 years later this worldwide banger is still making record-breaking history in his career.
The single was initially released in March 2008 as the lead single from Tha Carter III and quickly became his first number-one song on the Billboard Hot 100.
“Lollipop, my first Diamond record. 10 million singles sold; not streams. 10 million singles.”
After the news was announced on Wednesday, the world’s favorite rapper shared a video unboxing his diamond treasure. In the video, he thanked all of his fans who made the opportunity possible and paid tribute to producer Static Major who passed away shortly before the single was released.
Once Tha Carter III came out, it broke records and made history. Selling 423,000 copies on its first day and 1,005,545 copies in the first week, Wayne cleared the largest first-week sales for any album in 2008. It was the first album to reach the million mark since 50 Cent’s The Massacre was released in 2005. Lollipop and Tha Carter III earned him his first two Grammy Awards and his first certified diamond plaque fifteen years later.

Since he stepped foot into the hip-hop world he has changed the entire game and made it his own. In 2020 he solidified his spot as one of the greatest after selling 100 million records worldwide, making him one of the best-selling artists of all time. The world has watched Weezy grow from an emerging HipHop artist to Megastar, CEO of Young Money Entertainment, author, skater, and philanthropist.
Last month, Lollipop resurfaced on social media and made its way to the #1 sound spot on TikTok’s US Top Tracks. The multi-platinum, grammy award-winning artist recently delivered a fire live performance of Lollipop on Amazon Music Live hosted by 2Chainz.
Congratulations Tunechi. Your impact and influence on hip-hop culture will never go unnoticed!
