Best New Independent Artist: Oumie
Multi Talented Afrobeat superstar, Oumie is taking Los Angeles by storm with her music and charm.
The West African Queen was born in Gambia and moved to Sweden at the age of five. Oumie is no stranger when it comes to music. During her time at Fryshuset Kunskaps Center, a school of arts, Oumie studied music and graduated to pursue her dreams. One of Oumie’s first steps to pursing her dreams was moving to America from Sweden. Since then Oumie won Best New Independent Artist at the HAPA awards, and is currently working on a new EP.
Oumie has released a few new singles this year, Gambia, How Deep, and Bubble. Right now her song “Bubble” feat. E-Dee is getting amazing responses in the US, Africa, and the Caribbean. It already has over one million views on Youtube.
Bubble was created with the intention to express the Caribbean vibes and rhythms.
Oumie is ambitious when it comes to the music industry, she has the skills and expertise to change the game with her triple threat abilities. She can sing/rap, dance and act. She was just spotted at the Hollywood Music in Media Awards where celebrities, performers, industry icons, composers, and artists came together to celebrate music and media. Oumie hit the red carpet for a few interviews and pictures.
Not only is Oumie breaking through the music business but she is also the Founder of the “Miss Africa America Pageant.” The Pageant that she founded focuses on giving African women a platform where their voices will be heard as goodwill. Oumie decided to establish the “Miss Africa America Pageant” after being crowned “Miss Gambia USA” 2015-2017. Oumie’s focus is building relationships in the African community and to influence young ladies that watch her through the pageants. Showing them that they can do anything they want.
Oumie plans to take her music to the top. She wants to continue releasing singles and build her platform. So far Oumie has accumulated over 2.5 million followers across all social media platforms.
From her hot songs to her iconic outfits, Oumie is setting the mood to be the next big thing Hollywood has ever seen.
