2022 Afro Awards: Star Stunned Night

It was a star-stunned night at the 2022 Afro Awards with celebrity guest Masika Kalysha Champ, hosting the event.

The Afro Awards was a celebration for everyone to come together as one and support each other. Taiwo Oduala, The founder of The Afro Awards says this is a celebration to reward individuals and organizations for their hard work and consistency towards the upliftment in the global society and all over the continent.
Taiwo Oduala began his career in entertainment and film making in 1991 as a stage/television director until 1994 when he started full time training as a film and screen director. Oduala is an award winning movie director with 30 years of experience in the entertainment industry and 25 years experience as a film director. He is the president of the Oduataj Foundation and Oduataj Entertainment music label, he is also a full member of the Directors Guild of Nigeria (DGN). Oduala plans to bring the world together and make it a better place.
The creator of “Death Row Records” Michael “Harry-O” Harris was honored along with Dr. Dre’s son Curtis Young, Davido, Charmaine Blake, Tina Weisinger, Masika Kalysha Champ, Dr. Lance McCarthy, Ayuko Babu, Senator Ademola Jackson Adeleke, Hubert Nakitare, Leah Pump, Rochel Pamphile, Ade James, Kandias Conda, Madam Lara Okunnubi, Fatima Maada, Afro Nation, Sam Anwuzia,
There was a special performance by E-Dee and Oumie. They performed their new, hot single “Bubble.”

Curtis Young was honored at the Afro Awards. He stated that he feels elated and so honored to be at the Afro Awards. Curtis also spoke about his intake on Hip Hop and how it’s growing and where the wave is going. Curtis would like to see more unity and peace in the hip hop community by everyone uniting as one and not looking at each other trying to be better than the next, and be humble.
Curtis Young spoke about the importance of giving back to the less fortunate because sometimes communities get skipped over. Curtis plans to give back to Los Angeles and all over. He has a few things in the works. Curtis recently met the First Lady of Zambia and broke ground in Zambia by visiting and bringing over clean water. Curtis is also working on bringing sustainable housing to different parts of the culture.

Actor, Singer, Entrepreneur, Businesswomen and TV Personality Masika Kalysha was honored as well at the Afro Awards. Masika talked about her upcoming project that she wrote and produced called “The Doorman.” It is a scripted series coming out in 2023 that she is working on.
Masika Kalysha is a Jack of all trades she has a few businesses that she is proud of, “Stock Market Tips From A Bad Bitch” it teaches you about financial literacy and the stock market, she also has her cosmetic beauty line “Khari Barbie Cosmetics, CBD oils, and an upcoming podcast.

We also got a chance to chat with some of the top celebrities in Hollywood. We talked to Hollywood Director, Rob Deane about his show on Netflix called Family Reunion starring Tia Mowry and Loretta Devine. Rob said he came to the Afro awards to meet other talented individuals and to see what the awards is all about.
Another celebrity we spoke to was the creator of “Death Row Records” Harry O. Harry is currently working with Snoop Dog to create new visions for Death Row, creating apparel, Death Row Pictures, new restaurants, and they will be setting up distribution towards the end of the year.
Hall of Famer and the first African American Women Pro Basketball Owner Kandi Conda spoke with us about her excitement on being honored at the Afro Awards and her new documentary “The Vision” that has already collected awards and being shown in different cities.
Hip Hop artist Jordyn Carter hit the scene and spit some rhymes. She talked about seeing all the beautiful people at the Afro Awards and coming together to celebrate. Jordyn talked to us about her acting, dancing, and modeling career. You can find her music on all platforms.

Dr. Lance McCarthy received an award in philanthropy and community organizing. Dr. Lance said he feels great about receiving the award and being honored by his peers. Dr. Lance does a lot of economic development and helps out with the George Floyd foundation by taking pain and turning it into power. Currently every Wednesday Dr. Lance and his team feed the homeless at 540 S San Pedro, Downtown Los Angeles from 12pm-2pm.
Actor Nikki J, stepped on the red carpet for an interview to talk about her new project coming out called “Severed Innocence” it’s about a life filled with trauma and abuse that leaves a young woman, raised by the social system, scared and confused when she’s accused of killing four men. Facing an uncertain future and incarceration, an unsolicited affluent couple comes to her aid. Not knowing who this couple is and why they want to help her, she places her faith and trust in them and their attorney to save her from a life in prison. A twist of faith in court changes her life forever. The movie will be coming out in 2023.
