This Christmas season is being kicked off with some spice as Hope St Holiday hits the screens for streaming. With a full Afro-Latina cast, we get to experience the holidays in a beautifully diverse way that has never been done before. Writers Isadora Ortega and Brandon Morson came together to tell the story of Galia Garcia (Isadora Ortega), a successful Afro-Latina attorney in Los Angeles who returns to her small hometown after a breakup just before Christmas. With the loss of her mother and best friend early on in life and being away from home, she lacked meaningful relationships, but that would all change.

With the help of a 5-year-old orphan (Seren Merrill), 3 cray aunties (Rosemary Dominguez, Adargiza De Los Santos, and Jackie Nova), and the magic of her small town, Galia begins to heal from her past trauma. She began rediscovering her self-worth, the true meaning of family, and falling in love all over again with her high school sweetheart.

This was a great film because it was so relatable and gives an up-close look at Afro-Latina culture on screen like never before. Representation on camera matters now more than ever and this film allowed Afro-Latina women to be seen in lead roles. If you need a new movie to watch with the family for the holiday Hope St. Holiday is perfect! Check it out on demand and in digital HD on iTunes, Apple TV, Hoopla, Sling, Google Play, Youtube, and more!

I had the chance to spill the tea with some of the creators of the film and the cast before the screening. Check out the full interviews below:
