ANNYAO – DJ, Producer, and Future Bass Pioneer Making Waves in LA

Meet Ann, a DJ, producer, and Berklee College of Music graduate, whose journey in music has been one of discovery, transformation, and relentless dedication. Originally from Taiwan, Ann moved to California during middle school and has since embraced the dynamic music scene, which led her to make a bold move to Los Angeles in January to pursue music full-time.

Her story is one of passion and perseverance. Ann began her musical journey as a drummer, initially set on becoming a performer. However, everything changed when she discovered the world of electronic music production. This new medium sparked a deep connection within her, and she dove headfirst into Berklee’s Electronic Music Production & Sound Design program, opening doors to a whole new side of music that spoke to her on a personal level.

A Sound That Speaks to the Soul

Ann’s music is primarily rooted in future bass with influences from house. What sets her apart is her ability to craft emotional melodies, paired with energetic beats and powerful chords, creating an uplifting, inspiring, and transformative listening experience. For Ann, music is not just a career—it’s a way to process emotions that words can’t always capture.

“EDM has always had a huge impact on me,” Ann says. “It’s uplifting, inspiring, and has this way of helping me process emotions that I can’t always put into words.” Her sound is all about evoking feeling—from moments of calm to a rush of energy. With each track, she invites listeners to connect with something deeper and feel the freedom that music brings.

Connecting Through Sound

While studying at Berklee, Ann had the opportunity to DJ across the East Coast, where she quickly realized her love for connecting with audiences through music. “Those experiences really solidified how much I love connecting with people through sound,” she reflects.

Now based in Los Angeles, Ann is ready to take her career to the next level, diving into the bustling music scene and bringing her emotional and energetic sound to a larger audience. For Ann, this is just the beginning of her music career, and she’s excited about the future.
