Biles, who has won a total of 30 Olympic and World Championship medals, spoke about the issue during an interview with ESPN’s “The Jump.” She revealed that even when she’s wearing a mask, people still mistake her for Douglas.
“I’m like, ‘I’m sorry, she’s over there,'” Biles said, adding that she thinks people make the mistake because they see “a little brown girl with short hair” and automatically assume it’s Douglas.
Douglas, who won Olympic gold medals in 2012 and 2016, also commented on the situation, saying that she and Biles are often mistaken for one another. However, she added that she’s glad to be compared to someone as talented as Biles.
Biles has been breaking records and making history in the world of gymnastics for years, and her achievements have earned her a unique place in the sport’s history. Despite the constant mix-ups with Douglas, she continues to inspire young athletes around the world.
