McDonald’s franchisees across the United States are reportedly upset over the promotion of the Cardi B and Offset celebrity meal, according to a recent report by Business Insider.

The meal, which includes a Big Mac, fries, a Sprite, and two sauces, was introduced as part of a marketing partnership with the popular hip-hop couple.

However, some franchise owners are unhappy with the promotion, saying that it has caused operational issues and hasn’t resulted in the expected increase in sales.

The report cites anonymous franchisees who claim that the meal has caused confusion among customers and employees, with some customers requesting the meal by name and others expecting to receive additional items not included in the promotion. Franchisees also reportedly expressed frustration with the amount of attention the promotion received, saying that it overshadowed other menu offerings and promotions.

Despite these concerns, McDonald’s corporate leadership defended the promotion in a statement to Business Insider. “We’ve heard from many franchisees who are excited about the partnership and the promotion,” the statement read. “We always appreciate feedback from our franchisees and will continue to listen and adjust as needed.”

The Cardi B and Offset meal is the latest in a series of celebrity partnerships that McDonald’s has launched in recent years, including collaborations with Travis Scott and BTS. While these partnerships have been popular with some customers, they have also faced criticism from franchisees who argue that the promotions create unnecessary complications and do not generate significant sales.

As McDonald’s continues to expand its marketing partnerships, it remains to be seen how franchisees will react and whether these promotions will continue to be a point of contention within the company.
