HYBE, the South Korean entertainment and fashion conglomerate formerly known as Big Hit Entertainment, has acquired 100% of the stakes in Quality Control Music, the Atlanta-based record label that represents some of the biggest names in hip-hop such as Lil Baby, City Girls, and Migos, for a reported $300 million.

Quality Control was founded by Pierre “Pee” Thomas and Kevin “Coach K” Lee in 2013 and has quickly established itself as one of the leading record labels in the hip-hop industry, raking in over $200 million in revenue in 2020. The label has produced multiple number one albums and several top 10 hits, including Lil Baby’s “My Turn” and “What You Know Bout Love”, and Migos’ “Culture” and “Culture II”.

HYBE, which owns and operates multiple entertainment and fashion brands, has been on a buying spree over the past year, acquiring Ithaca Holdings, the company owned by Justin Bieber’s manager, Scooter Braun, as well as Pledis Entertainment, the South Korean record label that manages the boy group NU’EST.

The acquisition of Quality Control marks a major milestone for HYBE as it continues to expand its global reach and strengthen its position as a leading player in the music industry. The company has stated that it will provide full support for Quality Control and its artists and work closely with the label to create new and innovative content.

Quality Control has expressed excitement about the acquisition and looks forward to the opportunities that will come with being part of the HYBE family. The label will continue to operate as an independent entity, with Pee and Coach K remaining at the helm.

This acquisition is a significant move for HYBE and the hip-hop industry, signaling a shift towards increased consolidation and globalization in the music industry. The combined reach and resources of HYBE and Quality Control will undoubtedly bring new and exciting opportunities for both the label and its artists.

With the integration of Quality Control into the HYBE family, fans can look forward to a new era of innovative and ground-breaking music, as the two companies work together to create a global impact in the world of music and entertainment.
