Dr. Lance McCarthy Named Economic Advisor to Lead $5 Million Global Health Campaign for Tanzania OB/GYN Hospital
A major global health initiative is underway as Dr. Lance McCarthy, Chairman of The Black Agenda and internationally recognized economic strategist, has been appointed Economic Advisor for the LiftLife Global Health 24/7 OB/GYN Hospital Project in Tanzania.
The initiative, led by LiftLife Global Health, aims to build a full-service maternity and women’s healthcare facility in the Mwanbani region of Tanzania. The project will provide round-the-clock obstetrics and gynecological care, emergency childbirth services, prenatal and postnatal care, neonatal support, and essential community health education.
Dr. McCarthy will lead a $5 million international fundraising campaign designed to fund the construction and long-term sustainability of the hospital.
Addressing a Critical Global Health Need
According to data from the World Health Organization, sub-Saharan Africa accounts for the majority of global maternal deaths — many of which are preventable with access to skilled birth attendants, emergency obstetric care, and properly equipped medical facilities.
The LiftLife Global Health hospital initiative directly targets these urgent needs by bringing modern medical infrastructure to underserved rural communities.
The project will serve women and families in regions where access to qualified healthcare professionals and medical equipment remains extremely limited.
Strategic Goals of the Campaign
The $5 million campaign will support several key objectives:
• Construction of a modern 24/7 OB/GYN and maternity hospital
• Installation of surgical, delivery, and neonatal intensive care equipment
• Recruitment and training of qualified medical professionals
• Development of community outreach and maternal health education programs
• Implementation of sustainable operational funding models
Dr. McCarthy will also work with LiftLife Global Health to build partnerships with philanthropic organizations, healthcare foundations, corporate donors, and international development institutions to ensure the long-term success of the facility.
Building Sustainable Healthcare Infrastructure
The initiative aligns with global health priorities supported by organizations such as the World Bank, which emphasizes the importance of healthcare infrastructure investment to strengthen economic stability and improve maternal health outcomes in developing regions.
Dr. McCarthy emphasized the life-saving impact of the project, stating:
