Samsung Overtakes Apple in Global Smartphone Shipments, Reclaiming the No. 1 Spot
In a major shift within the smartphone industry, Samsung has officially surpassed Apple in global device shipments, securing its position once again as the world’s leading smartphone manufacturer.
According to the latest quarterly data, Samsung shipped approximately 60 million smartphones, while Apple shipped just over 50 million during the same period. This performance gives Samsung about 21% of global market share, compared to Apple’s 17%, marking a significant gap in shipments between the two tech giants.
Industry experts note that this metric matters far beyond bragging rights. A larger install base means more revenue from apps, services, accessories, and long-term upgrades—areas where Apple has historically been strong. But Samsung’s momentum signals a tightening race for ecosystem dominance.
While consumers continue to debate design quality, camera systems, and user experience, Samsung’s aggressive expansion strategy appears to be paying off. From mid-range offerings to flagship devices, the brand has maintained a diverse lineup aimed at reaching every corner of the global market.
Financial analysts say “smart money watches who controls volume,” emphasizing that long-term power in the smartphone industry lies in market penetration and customer lifetime value—not just premium device sales.
With both companies preparing major releases for 2026, the battle for smartphone supremacy is far from over. But for now, Samsung holds the crown.
