Arriving unable to read or write, he was placed in special education classes. At P.S. 40 on Ralph Avenue in Brooklyn, he credits Miss Carol for recognizing his potential and introducing him to reading, which laid the foundation for his future endeavors.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Career Beginnings<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>After high school, Dwight moved to Boston to work with his uncle, Paul, who owned a moving company. This opportunity allowed him to support his first daughter, born in 2005. Despite working in various industries, including fast food and cabinet making, he faced challenges with employers reluctant to pay him. Determined to succeed, Dwight remained steadfast, refusing to compromise his principles.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Transition to Barbering<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In 2007, during a period of depression, Dwight visited a barbershop and was encouraged by one of the barbers to consider the profession. Motivated, he enrolled at Barber Atlas School in Manhattan. With financial support from his Uncle Ian, he completed the eight-month course. This led to the opening of his own business, Tex and Weezy Barber Shop, which he operated from 2007 to 2016. The experience of owning and running his business significantly influenced his personal growth.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Entrepreneurial Ventures<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Beyond barbering, Dwight launched his clothing brand, Salute The Gods, three years after opening his barbershop. His journey into barbering began not merely as a career choice but as a lifeline during challenging times. As he continues to make his ascent, he recounts how he turned to cutting hair after facing numerous challenges that could have easily derailed his ambitions.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Acting and Media Presence<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Dwight is also a budding actor, having appeared in several full-length films, including \u201cThe Bullet to the Ballot I &amp; II,\u201d \u201cDeserved It,\u201d and \u201cLet\u2019s Go For Life.\u201d He hosts the podcast \u201cSTG Metaphysical Talk Radio,\u201d available on Spotify and YouTube. His multifaceted career reflects his resilience and commitment to personal and professional growth.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Philosophy and Inspiration<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Dwight emphasizes the importance of self-belief and authenticity. He encourages others to believe in themselves, stating, \u201cThere\u2019s no limitation on what you can achieve. It\u2019s your responsibility to create the life you want.\u201d He advises aspiring individuals to \u201cStay true to yourself, no matter the circumstance,\u201d reminding them, \u201cThere is no salvation outside of self.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Current Endeavors<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Dwight co-founded House of Skillz Barbershop in Ocean Hill, Brooklyn, where he continues to serve his community.
