Marques Houston, a former member of the R&B group Immature, has recently faced criticism from fellow group member ‘Young Rome’ for his remarks about women and age. In a recent interview, Houston stated that women his age come with “baggage” and he prefers to date younger women.

Young Rome, whose real name is Jerome Jones, took to social media to criticize Houston’s remarks, calling them “dumb” and “disrespectful.” He argued that age has nothing to do with “baggage” and that Houston’s comments were harmful and perpetuate ageism in the entertainment industry.

This is not the first time that Houston has faced criticism for his comments about women. In 2020, he faced backlash for his controversial remarks about the LGBTQ+ community. Houston later apologized for his comments and stated that he supports equality for all.

As the entertainment industry continues to grapple with issues of representation and inclusivity, it is important for artists to be mindful of the impact of their words and actions. Ageism and discrimination against marginalized communities have no place in our society, and it is up to all of us to challenge and push back against harmful stereotypes and biases.
